Muslims In Britain

Recent history of muslims in Britain starting in 1869 when the Suez canal was opened. The earliest group of muslim came into Britain are from Yemen for business purposes and followed by the textiles industry’s workers from Syiria. The third group of muslims immigration is the biggest numbers when the government of British need a labors for transportation purposes and textile industries (1950-1968). Temporary lives turn to permanent lives when the muslims immigrates sees Britain is a good safe country to live in. their changing of plans to live in Britain make they realized the importance of building mosque for the community. The first mosque was built in Liverpool in 1884 by a white man muslim army named William Henry. Unfortunately, the mosque was demolished by government because of the building’s policy was, any building’s age more than 150 years old, will be demolished for a new development. The second mosque was built in 1889, located at Woking sponsored by wife of Bhopal named Shahjahan Begum. It is the oldest mosque in London. Now days, there are about 1500 mosques in London. The biggest famous mosque is The London Central Mosque, built in 1944 and located at the Centre of London City. Good country is not guarantee of being a good muslims. Muslims in Britain facing a critical problem with the young muslim. This generation having a crisis of the identity. They was born in British country and grown up in British-hood. Even though they realize that they are muslims, but their live are just likes British’s Teenagers.
